Magda's Style Room believes that shopping for individual style is more interesting (and more fun) than relying on trends. Trends are based on the business of fashion, individual style is how you feel and look in your clothes. Magda's Style Room began choosing styles with this in mind and this led to providing a new way to shop both for at-home personal shopping or for private events. 

When I began this project, I was learning the ropes as a pro-makeup artist working in fashion, production, and commercial print. Having come from a background as a professional actor in theatre I felt like it was incredible to have access to quallity clothing. I wanted clothes in great condition that were high quality, but not always expensive.

I also loved the idea of how moving and sourcing clothing was effective for cost and the planet.  I learned that the idea of donating and specific purchasing could be in sync with styling. 

Focus on inner beauty, form and personality seemed key and pressure to over buy, over apply (makeup) and purchase fashion that can be more flattering and personal led me to want to create something new. I noticed how lines, fabric, the quality of clothes fitting correctly are the basis for a good outfit -- not always what is in style.

To purchase wardrobe items based on this individual style meant avoiding retail mark-ups, the support of over production, and filling closets with clothes that doesn't make sense. While I developed as a pro-makeup artist and fashion maven I ran around Brooklyn, NY for years speaking with resale specialists, shop owners and women who traded clothing and re-sold before it became hip. I realized by becoming a curator of style and fashion resale I could take the work out of how people shop by alleviating time and cost involved for them to find the right personal pieces. 

Recycling clothing that has no home is important, exciting, and feels right in a culture that over-purchases and keeps items around too long. The fashion that no longer fits or suits one person, can become the perfect match for another.
